Random ramblings, aimed at enlightening you on what it is like inside my head…

Salzburg, Austria

So, I have decided to start blogging again. But, the direction of the blog is going to be completely different. I mostly, just want to document my time in Europe so that I can look back at it later.

So, I have been in Salzburg for almost 2 and a half months. I was really homesick at first, and it kind of went away for a while. But, it definitely came back. I, and the other 50 people on my program, are reaching a point where it just isn’t “new and fresh” anymore. The novelty of Salzburg is definitely gone. But, unlike most everyone else I will not be going home in less than a month. I have about 6 more months of this adventure.

I mostly regret my decision to stay for a whole year. But, one can not let regrets consume their minds. So, I am living it up and just making the best of it. I mean, other than the obvious homesickness, my life is pretty great. I mean, this is like a giant vacation. I am able to focus more on myself than I ever have before. I am not taking any Biology classes. No chemistry classes. No work. Just school, and life. This does get old though. I can’t seem to take my classes seriously. I mean, they are a joke. But, I do need to get decent grades, so I need to try and focus more.

My German language skills are quickly coming to a plateau. It is difficult to be passionate about German. First, my teacher is definitely an interesting situation. (I’ll blog about that later!) Also, it is often difficult to make myself struggle through a conversation in German when I know they speak English, or I am just not in the mood to try that hard. I know that it is in my best interest to try and speak as much German as possible while I am here.

Well, this entry was kind of  a hodge podge of information, but maybe my future posts will be more focused and better written.
